Gay activists used the media to condemn a conference on reparative therapy in Belfast, Ireland. The keynote speaker of the conference was California therapist David Pickup. From Parents and Friends of Ex-gays and Gays (PFOX): “Jennings recently announced he will leave the Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools. His appointment in 2009 was controversial due to his previous work with the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN), which rejects former homosexuals. However, during Jennings’ tenure he met with PFOX, which advocates for equality and equal access for the ex-gay community, and assured them that his office represents students with all sexual orientations, including those with unwanted same-sex attractions (SSA). Gay activist Patrick Strudwick posed as a man with unwanted same-sex attractions in an effort to smear a Christian counselor and reparative therapy. “In 2009, Mr. Strudwick pretended to be a Christian individual who wished to undertake Reparative Therapy. He approached Mrs. Pilkington at a Christian conference pretending to want counselling for unwanted same-sex attraction. He attended two counseling sessions with Mrs. Pilkington during which he secretly recorded her. He then reported her to the BACP [British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy ].” (more…)

In an article entitled “Can We Just Start Admitting That We Do Want to Indoctrinate Kids” Daniel Villarreal states what is not very often admitted – that the gay rights movement is in a culture war against religious conservatives. Villareal writes: “Why would we push anti-bullying programs or social studies classes that teach kids about the historical contributions of famous queers unless we wanted to deliberately educate children to accept queer sexuality as normal? The apparent maneuvering of gay activists has led to a Maryland public school district entertaining statements on homosexuality, one of which attacked “the right of individuals with unwanted same-sex attractions to seek therapy to overcome those attractions.” PFOX heard about the statements and has responded by presenting the school board “with peer-reviewed academic research confirming that some people have changed from homosexual to heterosexual.” The full text of PFOX’s news release follows: (more…)

From the PFOX newsletter “California Legislating Morality:” – “I am ________ and I speak to you on behalf of PFOX, Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays & Gays, an organization of families and friends of the ex-gay community. I’m a California native and a proud graduate of UC Berkeley. I also spent 19 years of my life living as a man. My first words were “I’m a boy.” If anyone could say they were born this way, it was me. I thought I had no choice but to get surgery or continue dating women as a man trapped in a girl’s body. I became suicidal not because of lack of understanding from others but because I personally didn’t want to live this way and no one offered me any other choice.” The full text of the PFOX email news release follows: (more…)

The following excerpt is from the PFOX press release. The full text can be found at http://pfox.org/PFOX-Day-Silence-Supports-Ex-Gay-Rights.html.
“Because homosexual activists try to censor the ex-gay point of view, PFOX asks students to distribute ex-gay literature to their friends in support of equality for the ex-gay community,” said Griggs. “The day of silence enables students to distribute ex-gay literature without harassment since opponents are obligated to remain silent that day.” Many of PFOX’s brochures are geared towards youth and explain sexual orientation, tolerance for the ex-gay community, gender identity disorder, anti-bullying policies for both gays and ex-gays, and resources for unwanted same-sex attractions.

PFOX issued the following response to Apple stopping Exodus International‘s iPhone application. “Apparently Apple is afraid of real diversity and tolerance,” said Christopher Doyle, former homosexual and PFOX board member. “Individuals with unwanted same-sex attraction deserve support from the same technology that gays benefit from – why are ex-gays being singled out for blatant sexual orientation discrimination?” The full statement from PFOX can be found at http://pfox.org/Apple-Computer-Discriminating-Against-Ex-Gays.html or below.
