Excerpt from the article “Boy Scouts could lose tax break for gay ban” on Hearst Newspaper’s SF Gate website: “California would strip the tax-exempt status from youth organizations like the Boy Scouts if they have policies that bar gay people from participating, under a bill introduced at the Capitol Tuesday. The measure, SB323, by Sen. Ricardo Lara, D-Bell Gardens (Los Angeles County), comes as the national Boy Scouts of America is considering changes to its policy barring gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people from serving as scouts or as leaders in the organization.”

The following text was transcribed from Exodus International’s “Question of the Week – Gay Marriage?” video featuring Alan Chambers: “Each week we get a number of important questions that come into our office. This week the important question we decided to answer is – Does Exodus International have a policy on gay marriage? And the answer is no, we don’t. If you remember a number of years ago we were involved in public policy. About five years ago we decided that that was a major distraction for us, frankly, at Exodus International for a number of reasons.” (more…)

Excerpts from ex-gay Christopher Doyle’s opinion piece on the Christian Post website: … “The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), which claims to be ‘a nonprofit civil rights organization dedicated to fighting hate and bigotry, and to seeking justice for the most vulnerable members of society,’ has been conducting a hate campaign for several years against former homosexual leaders, therapists, and persons with unwanted same-sex attraction (SSA).” (more…)

Text from Dr. Miriam Grossman’s blog article “Gay or Straight? When others decide for you – Part One” on www.miriamgrossmanmd.com: … “I once saw a college student who, a few hours earlier, nearly jumped from the window of his ninth floor dorm room. Fortunately he hesitated, and walked to the campus counseling center instead. He was screened by a therapist, then sent over to me for an emergency psychiatric evaluation.”
“Malik (not his real name) was deeply distressed. ‘I don’t want to be how I am’, he explained. ‘I’m attracted to men, but it isn’t me. I know it’s not me.’ It was a dreadful situation. (more…)

Beginning excerpt from the article “How I Went from ‘Robert’ to ‘Claudia’ – A Fake Woman” on the PFOX website: “In 1988, everything was going wrong for me. I had just moved to Minnesota with my mother and sister. I had recently fallen in love with a girl I met in Minnesota, but she did not love me. I did not get along with my sister who put me out on the street. I lived in homeless shelters and one day when I was in a Kmart I read Renee Richard’s book, the famous transgender tennis player. I thought I would be happier as a woman even though I was born male. I was 25 years old when I decided to become a woman. I was also a straight man.”

Excerpt from ex-gay Charlene E. Hios’ article “How Do I Respond When A Loved One Says ‘I’m gay'” on the PFOX website. Charlene is Executive Director of Bridging The Gaps Ministries: “Many Christians now must ask, ‘How do I respond when a loved one says ‘I’m gay’?’ How you respond when they disclose that they believe they are gay or lesbian makes a world of difference in your relationship with them going forward. This is especially true if they are your child.”
“First, remember this is not about you. It is about that person. The desire for your loved one is that they be reconciled to God from this sin. You can, and must, extend God’s love while holding to a position that homosexuality is sin. (more…)

Evergreen is the Latter-Day Saints ministry to those with unwanted same-sex attractions. It appears that the leadership in the Latter-Day Saints denomination had been in serious discussions over the issue of homosexuality in 2012. A link on the new site’s front page contains an interview with Elder D. Todd Christofferson giving information about the website and the Mormon Church’s position on homosexuality. Some excerpts: “We’re not endeavoring here to try to cover the waterfront and address every issue that could be, and needs to be, addressed in different settings relating to same-sex attraction. But the idea is to open us, all of us, to greater understanding. And you’ll hear stories and experiences from quite a diversity of people and backgrounds and perceptions. They’re genuine; they’re real; they’re authentic. (more…)

Excerpts from Florence Hubbs’ testimony on the PFOX website: … “In Feb 1993, Karen & I were to celebrate our 9th year together. I know I had great plans for the day. She suddenly said ‘that perhaps our relationship was wrong in God’s eyes’. I told her ‘I could fight a man or a woman, but I was certainly not going to fight God!’ I had already tried that and was not going to go back to the empty life of the bars. She moved out in March. I was deeply crushed, and through my tears ask God if he really cared. Are you real? God started bringing people into my life to show me his Love. Also the joy of being a friend with other women without sexual attractions.” (more…)

The Scripture verse the young lady chose to head the Facebook page is Psalm 147:3. “He heals the broken in heart and binds up their wounds.” She states the Facebook site is a story of her life and how she was healed from sexual abuse and delivered from homosexuality by the power of Jesus Christ. Her mission is “to reach the world with the truth…no one is born gay, and Jesus Christ can heal them and set them free.”
