The following excerpts are from the news release “North Star Announces New Executive Committee” on the North Star website: … “Ty is a co-author with Fred and Marilyn Matis of In Quiet Desperation: Understanding the Challenge of Same-Gender Attraction (Deseret Book, 2004), which includes a personal memoir of his spiritual journey as a member of the Church who has experienced homosexual attraction. He has also compiled Voices of Hope: Latter-day Saint Perspectives on Same-Gender Attraction (Deseret Book, 2011), an anthology of gospel teachings by a number of prominent LDS inspirational writers, as well as a number of personal essays written by LDS men and women who have first-hand experience with homosexual attraction. The following excerpts are from the article “Homosexual Lobby on the Attack Again” written by Cliff Kincaid and published on Accuracy In Media: … “The Maybe He’s Not Gay book ‘seeks to tell kids the truth about homosexual behavior,’ [Linda Harvey] says. It explains in a conversational tone why no one is born homosexual, the health risks associated with the lifestyle, and factors which may lead to same sex attractions.”
… “But Harvey tells Accuracy in Media she asked the publisher to pull her book from Amazon because it “had attracted the usual ‘gay’ mob with ad hominem attacks and even numerous review[er]s that admitted they had not read the book.” She said, “They just wanted to attack the idea of a book for kids, and me personally.” (more…)

The following PFOX response to the Duck Dynasty controversy is reprinted in its entirety: The gay bullying and intimidation deployed against Duck Dynasty’s Phil Robertson is nothing new to the ex-gay community. For too long in this country, gay rights organizations have incorporated ex-gay bashing as an integral part of their mission. Christian ex-gays are ridiculed for their faith, while people seeking therapy for unwanted same-sex attractions are painted as dangerously delusional. On this one-way street of intolerance, former homosexuals are accused of being liars or fakes while transgenders are celebrated for changing their gender identity. Using their political power and mainstream media support, gay activists work to keep ex-gays in the closet while demanding legal recognition of single-sex marriage as an equal right.
This well-organized and heavily-funded bullying of former homosexuals and ex-gay speech is known by the ex-gay community as ‘homofascism.’ (more…)

The following press release “Leading Same-Sex Attraction Ministry Organizations for Latter-day Saints To Unite Under North Star Umbrella” comes from the North Star International website and is reprinted in its entirety: Salt Lake City, UT – January 1, 2014: The Board of Directors of North Star International and Evergreen International announced today that North Star International will absorb certain resources and assets of Evergreen International, and beginning January 1, 2014 those resources will operate under the name and direction of North Star International.
Since its founding more than 20 years ago as a support organization for the members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Evergreen’s mission has always been similar to North Star’s in its desire to assist those who experience same-sex attraction and who desire to live in harmony with their spiritual and religious values. The following excerpts are from the Joe Dallas blog “The Phil Robertson Controversy: No More Ducking the Issue:” … “So OK, this is where I landed: I agree with most of what Phil said about homosexuality, and his positions match my own, though his statements on body parts seemed naïve and unhelpful (more on that later). The comments on race relations also came off a bit clumsy (ditto) but without malice. His remarks on both topics were, in fairness, responses to direct questions, so it wasn’t inappropriate for him to make them. I say it was wrong to suspend him, I do see this as a freedom of speech issue, and I believe A and E deserved the outcry it had to deal with. So I’m glad he’s reinstated, and I hope the takeaway lesson will be that Americans remain divided on sexual issues, that these are legitimate topics of discussion, and that citizens in the secular workplace should be free to express their position on homosexuality, pro or con, without having their livelihood threatened. VIMEO has removed the documentary “Understanding Same Sex Attractions” from its online video web service. The documentary featured interviews with individuals who have or are overcoming same-sex attractions as well as interviews with psychologists who help them.
VIMEO told the producers of the documentary, Family Watch International, that the ex-gay message in the documentary promoted “anti-diversity.” When asked to explain what in the documentary violated Vimeo policy, VIMEO responded, “Our moderators found that your videos position homosexuality as a dangerous lifestyle or a psychological condition worthy of treatment. We consider those perspectives to qualify as discriminatory speech. We understand that you may disagree with our assessment, but that is our moderators’ final opinion.” (more…)

The following PFOX News Alert “Ex-Gays Ask Duck Dynasty Critics to Stop Hating Former Homosexuals” is reprinted in its entirety: Now that GLAAD has successfully pushed cable network A&E to suspend Phil Robertson from his popular reality TV show, GLAAD is demanding that Mr. Robertson ‘sit down with gay families in Louisiana and learn about their lives and the values they share.’ PFOX asks that GLAAD do the same and sit down with members of the ex-gay community.
For too long, gay groups like GLAAD have used their political power and Hollywood influence to censor positive portrayals of former homosexuals. This irrational phobia of those who have overcome unwanted same-sex attractions perpetuates misunderstanding and harm against the ex-gay community. It also demonstrates a disregard for diversity and a refusal to respect a basic human right to dignity and self-determination. (more…)

The following excerpt is from the article “Homofacism Strikes Again … Duck Dynasty Style” on the Voice of the Voiceless website: … “So let me get this right, GLAAD. You have recently publicly campaigned for Congress to pass the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA), which would protect the LGBT community from being fired from their jobs because of their sexual identity, but you encourage A&E to “reexamine” their relationship with Phil Robertson because of his Louisiana back-woods, Bible-thumping, red neck Christian identity? In other words, Christian employers must be tolerant of one’s sexual identity, regardless of whether it conflicts with their values and belief system, but A&E should fire Phil Robertson for his religious values?”
“Can someone say HYPOCRISY?” …

Following is the tribute “Happy culture warrior ‘Hutch’ dies of cancer” written by Art Moore on the World Net Dailey website: … “While media dubbed him ‘anti-gay’ and a ‘spiritual bulldozer,’ he was known simply as ‘Hutch’ to his congregation and to many who knew him in the Pacific Northwest and nationally as an infectiously vibrant and fiercely unapologetic defender of the faith.”
“His non-denominational church’s motto, ‘black and white in a grey world,’ speaks not only of its mixed-race composition but also of a confidence in its beliefs that rubs against modern sensibilities. (more…)
