The National Association for the Research and Therapy of Homosexuality (NARTH) has published a summary excerpt of Dr. Neil Whitehead’s article “Homosexuality and Co-Morbidities: Research and Therapeutic Implications” from the Journal of Human Sexuality, 2.
Here is an excerpt from the excerpt: – “Although accusations of harm are often made regarding Sexual Orientation Change Efforts (SOCE), the American Psychological Association admits that the research to date does not support such claims (APA, 2009). (more…)

Gay activist Patrick Strudwick posed as a man with unwanted same-sex attractions in an effort to smear a Christian counselor and reparative therapy. “In 2009, Mr. Strudwick pretended to be a Christian individual who wished to undertake Reparative Therapy. He approached Mrs. Pilkington at a Christian conference pretending to want counselling for unwanted same-sex attraction. He attended two counseling sessions with Mrs. Pilkington during which he secretly recorded her. He then reported her to the BACP [British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy ].” (more…)

In December of 2010 PFOX (Parents and Friends of Ex-gays and Gays) sent out a bulletin with a link to the testimony of a man in his twenties named Jake who was able to change his sexual orientation with the help of reparative therapy. Here is a short excerpt. “Thankfully, I discovered a form of psychotherapy, often called Reparative Therapy or Gender Affirming therapy. It attempts to treat the root causes of your homosexuality, and gradually allow your heterosexual ‘true self’ to appear. The therapy has a success rate typical for most forms of psychotherapy, about a third of the persons who do it properly and don’t give up experience ‘good change.’ Thanks to much determination, I am among those whom it has worked well.” The full testimony can be found at http://pfox.org/diary-ex-gay-man.pdf.

The American College of Pediatricians has sent a letter to all 14,800 school districts in the United States warning them that premature labeling of students with same-sex attractions may “lead some adolescents into harmful homosexual behaviors that they otherwise would not pursue.”
The ACOP warning is based on studies that demonstrate “most adolescents who initially experience same-sex attraction, or are sexually confused, no longer experience such attractions by age 25. In one study, as many as 26% of 12-year-olds reported being uncertain of their sexual orientation, yet only 2-3% of adults actually identify themselves as homosexual.” (more…)

The National Association for Research and Therapy of Homosexuality (NARTH) accused the American Psychological Association (APA) of irresponsibility for adopting a resolution that urges licensed medical health providers to “Avoid Telling Clients They Can Change from Gay to Straight.” NARTH pointed out that the six individuals on the Task Force that produced the resolution were “on record as opposing sexual orientation change efforts through psychotherapy” before they were appointed. The report produced from the bias Task Force “irresponsibly ignores fifty years of scientific and clinical evidence,” was “unscientific and lacks objectivity and impartiality” according to NARTH’s professional viewpoint.
