July 15, 2012

Tom Usher has written an article pointing out how Dr. Nicoloi’s letter to Alan Chambers has been taken out of context. Usher includes Nicolosi’s letter in the article, which he claims is the original source of its posting. Following are some excerpts from Usher’s article on TheRealLiberalChurch website:

“Much is being made of Dr. Nicolosi writing to Alan Chambers that he, Dr. Nicolosi, has said that he can’t ‘cure’ anyone of same-sex attraction. That is not to say that Dr. Nicolosi is saying that he has never treated anyone the results of which have been to-date arriving and remaining where the client is no longer sexually aroused by those of the same sex.” (more…)

NARTH leader analyzes Spitzer’s retraction

June 1, 2012

Dr. Christopher Rosik has published his analysis of both Dr. Robert Spitzer’s motives and statements regarding his desire to retract his 2003 study that showed sexual orientation could be changed in varying degrees.

Here is and excerpt from Rosik’s article: – “It is hard to imagine the fall from professional grace that Spitzer took due to this study. In a very short period of time, his status within his profession changed from that of a heroic pioneer of gay rights to that of an unwitting mouthpiece for practitioners of SOCE [sexual orientation change efforts], whom many of his colleagues deem morally reprehensible. Before and after the study was published, Spitzer confirmed that he was getting a high volume of hate mail and anger directed at him (Spitzer, 2003b; Vonholdt, 2000). A decade of being hammered by your friends, colleagues, and the gay community that once revered you would surely take a toll on any of us.” (more…)

NARTH warns of CA Senate bill aimed at banning reparative therapy

July 20, 2012 By: Tom Coy Category: Clinical Science, Gay Politics, Sexual Orientation Change Efforts

April 27, 2012

The National Association of Research and Therapy of Homosexuality is alarmed at a California legislative effort to ban reparative therapy. Here are the concluding paragraphs of the NARTH statement: – “The fact that this legislation is solely directed at SOCE should be a red flag suggesting that ideological and political motivations may motivate backers of this legislation as much as any concern for consumers derived from the relevant science. It appears that those opposed to the ethical and professional provision of SOCE, having been unable to impose their will on professional organizations and licensing boards, are now attempting an end around power grab through the legislative process. NARTH believes this effort, if successful, would set a dangerous precedence for the mental health professions, unjustly restrict client rights, and almost certainly invite legal action.” (more…)
