Excerpts from The Christian Post article: – “The president of the world’s largest ministry to homosexuals and their families recently attempted to clarify controversial statements he made at a Gay Christian Network conference in Orlando, Fla., including one in which he described gays at the conference as ‘brothers and sisters in Christ.’”
“‘I believe that if a person has accepted the free gift of salvation, then the gift is irrevocable,’ Exodus International President Alan Chambers explained. ‘So, when someone says that they are a born again believer, I address them as a brother or sister in Christ.” Chambers published his comments on his ministry’s website last Friday, weeks after returning from the annual GCN conference. Here is an excerpt from Alan Chambers‘ blog through Exodus International: – “In January I had the privilege of participating on a panel at the Gay Christian Network Conference here in Orlando. Leslie and another couple from Exodus sat in the audience of 450 people listening as I was grilled for about 3 hours. Some comments I made there have ratcheted up the discussion on multiple levels. All sides are clamoring for a way to associate, disassociate, credit or discredit what I said, what I believe and the organization that I lead. One thing is certain, more conversation is needed and I am excited about being a part of it over the long haul.”
“The two controversial comments I made are:
1. I called a group of people who identify as gay or lesbian (some active, some celibate) brothers and sisters in Christ.
2. 99.9% of the people I know have not changed their sexual orientation.” (more…)

Alan Chambers, president of Exodus International, was a participant in a panel discussion organized by the Gay Christian Network a couple of days ago. It has been reported that he said, “The majority of people that I have met, and I would say the majority meaning 99.9% of them have not experienced a change in their orientation or have gotten to a place where they could say that they could never be tempted or are not tempted in some way or experience some level of same-sex attraction. I think there is a gender issue there; there are some women who have challenged me and said that my orientation or my attractions have changed completely. Those have been few and far between. The vast majority of people that I know will experience some level of same-sex attraction.” (more…)

Excerpts from the PFOX Newsletter: – “PFOX started the year off in February by hosting an exhibit booth at the popular and heavily attended CPAC (Conservative Political Action Conference) in Washington D.C. PFOX was one of only two social conservative organizations present at CPAC. GoProud, a Republican homosexual activist group, also exhibited, so we were able to answer many questions from attendees curious about what GoProud was saying about homosexuality. Without PFOX, conservatives from across the country would have received a one-sided message about homosexual behavior.” (more…)

Excerpt from the interview in the Charisma News: – “Jeff Buchanan, executive vice president of Exodus International, an interdenominational Christian ministry that assists those who struggle with same-sex attraction, is more concerned about social persecution than acts of violence.”
“‘This is going to contribute to a social criminalization on this issue within Brazil. It’s going to separate those who may not necessarily be active, militant, gay community members, but may be struggling,’ Buchanan argues. (more…)

The Fall 2011 newsletter by Parents and Friends of Ex-gays and Gays (PFOX) contains a report of board member Christopher Doyle’s participation in the conference. PFOX was one of the 175 attendees invited to the conference. Christopher asked one congresswoman present at the conference, “What if a student disagrees with homosexual behavior because of their religious view? Is there protection for students in the bill due to religious expression?” The Fall 2011 PFOX newsletter can be found at http://pfox.org/PFOX_newsletter_Fall_2011.pdf.
