NEA bigot calls PFOX’s message of possible change “garbage”

January 12, 2014 By: Tom Coy Category: Ex-gay News, Gay Politics

November 19, 2013

The following excerpts are from the PFOX Blog “Teach the NEA how to write:”… “Recently, PFOX (Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays and Gays) received some correspondence from an NEA employee, a journalist who writes for NEA Today. The NEA correspondence was in response to an email from PFOX on the ex-gay community’s declaration for equal access and equal treatment in our nation’s schools. The journalist’s comment was brief and to the point — ‘Please stop sending us you’re garbage. Sincerely, the Majority of America.’”

… “The PFOX email that prompted NEA’s bigoted comment urged the distribution of ex-gay flyers on the ‘Day of Silence’ in order to give complete information on sexual orientation to students. Our ex-gay flyers tell teens about exploring the origin of same-sex attraction and warn them against early self-labeling as ‘gay’ because sexuality develops over time. PFOX needs to be that other voice that is heard in the schools. Our children cannot just hear only the voice of those promoting homosexual behavior and thoughts. They need to know that if they are experiencing unwanted same-sex attraction, that change is possible. The voice of the ex-gay community also needs to be affirmed and respected.” …

Anne Paulk – gay and Christian should not fit together at all

December 27, 2013 By: Tom Coy Category: Ex-gay News, Religious Perspective

November 7,2013

The following essay “Gay Christians” by Anne Paulk is reprinted in its entirety from the PFOX website: I, Anne, have this to say concerning sin struggles, identity and marriage or singleness: Another portion of the ‘gay’ Christian statements go like this, “But many of us still struggle with sin to some degree and are not intent upon marriage, ‘gay Christian’ seems to make us feel comfortable and fit us better.” These things should not fit together at all.

Of course people still will struggle with sin, regardless of their backgrounds! Though they will be tempted in many areas, not only in what were once life-dominating areas. They may struggle even more if they have just left homosexuality (or drugs or use of alcohol or other sinful intoxicants). (more…)

D.L. Foster analyses new gay affirming organization

November 4, 2013

The following excerpts are from the article “NALT Project is the New Headless Horseman” written by Darryl L. Foster and published on the Voice of the Voiceless website: … “NALT’s official narrative/parrotive is “Christians proclaiming their belief in full LGBT equality”. [John] Shore claims the purpose of The NALT [Not All Like That] Christians Project is to give LGBT-affirming Christians a platform to share the belief that there’s nothing wrong with two men having sex with each other. Or two women. Or any of the other emerging variations of new sexual ‘orientations’ that they keep inventing. All in childish error I might add. Its just all about love. Making it ‘all about love’ is a very convenient tool for LGBT affirmers. It allows them to handily dismiss pesky biblical admonitions about sexual purity, moral requirements, obedience to Christ and fidelity to truth as outdated legalism. (more…)

The excerpt from the article “New Jersey couple sues Chris Christie over gay ‘therapy’ ban” was written by the Associated Press and published on www.politico.com: “NEWARK, N.J. — A southern New Jersey couple has sued Gov. Chris Christie over his signing of a bill banning so-called gay conversion therapy, claiming it violates their constitutional rights.”

“The couple, who isn’t identified in the court papers filed Friday, claims the law violates their rights to free speech and free exercise of religion because it prevents them from seeking treatment for their 15-year-old son. According to the lawsuit, the teen suffers from ‘unwanted gender identity disorder and unwanted same-sex attractions’ and has contemplated suicide. …”

October 25, 2013

The following excerpt is from the article “Singer/songwriter describes song chosen as ‘anthem’ for ex-homosexuals” written by Charlie Butts and published on OneNewsNow.com: “The movement to gain rights for former homosexuals has adopted an anthem written, fittingly, by ex-homosexual Dennis Jernigan. Jernigan, who titles the song ‘Rise Up,’ is a former homosexual who has been married for three decades and has nine children. He lives in Oklahoma.”

“… ‘When you think about it, it’s a natural fit for what they’re trying to accomplish,’ says Jernigan. Why a natural fit? Because “Rise Up” lets people know that former homosexuals are proof that hope for change for unwanted same-gender attractions is available through Christ. …”

The group’s president says there are young people in the LGBTQ community who wants to change and need the proper guidance. October 16, 2013

The following excerpts are from the report “Ex-Gay Christian Counsellor hounded out by psychotherapist associations” from the Christian Concern website: “The British Psychodrama Association (BPA) has this week removed former homosexual Dr. Mike Davidson from the psychotherapists’ register of trainee professional membership under the direction of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). The decision was made on the basis of just two BBC radio interviews and no complaints from either his clients or his qualified supervisors.”

“Dr Davidson specialises in counselling those who consider themselves troubled by feelings of same-sex attraction as he himself has been in the past. He has counselled without professional objection for six years and is recognised as an intelligent, empathetic and caring therapist. He has recently become a target for gay activists.” (more…)

PFOX report on the First Ex-Gay Dinner and Awards Banquet

December 18, 2013 By: Tom Coy Category: Ex-gay News, testimony

October 15, 2013

Following is the unabridged report “First Ex-Gay Dinner Celebrated” written by Regina Griggs and copied from the PFOX website: Douglas McIntyre of Homosexuals Anonymous spoke about how far the ex-gay community has come — “Having lunch on Capitol Hill today with many individuals that have shared the same experiences as I, reminded me that we’ve come a long way. When I was boy, not only was I unable to tell anyone what I was going through [experiencing unwanted homosexual feelings] but there was no place to go. No safe group or organization helping people like me. Today, I’m surrounded by friends . . . it’s a day to celebrate what God has done,” said McIntyre.

Greg Quinlan of Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays (PFOX) spoke about ex-gay awareness — “I speak out about my experiences because of what I’ve seen. When I was in the gay lifestyle, I buried 100 of my gay friends who died of AIDS before I stopped counting. (more…)

Washington Post writer discounts VOV investigation – Christopher Doyle responds

December 18, 2013 By: Tom Coy Category: Ex-gay News, Gay Politics, Sexual Orientation Change Efforts

October 14, 2013

The following excerpts are from the Washington Post article “‘Ex-gay’ movement targets Va. universities, demands ‘conversion’ option be offered to gays” by Tom Jackman and Christopher Doyle’s response two days later on the Voice of the Voiceless website: “… But Doyle, who works closely with Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays, claims there are First Amendment and therapeutic issues here: That students have a right to hear from all sides, and that the university should not screen out those whose views they don’t agree with. He also noted that in proper and ethical counseling, You take the client’s goals, and you work with their goals and you don’t impose your own values. It’s supposed to be value neutral.’ The Voiceless website says the group’s mission is ‘to defend the rights of former homosexuals, individuals with unwanted SSA, and their families.’ I think we would all agree that everyone deserves equal rights. And what is SSA? you ask. Same-sex attraction. Nothing to do with that abbreviation backwards. [This appears to be an underhanded slight insinuating that Doyle is an ASS for taking the position that students should be informed that therapy exists that can help a person change unwanted homosexuality] (more…)
