Many faith-based organizations are worried that the proposed inclusion of sexual orientation and gender identity may result in squeezing religious charities out of the program and impose reverse discrimination.”

The following article “VOV Condemns Kangaroo-Court Committee That Advanced Therapy Ban in New Jersey” on the Voice of the Voiceless website is reprinted in its entirety: Trenton, NJ, June 13, 2013 – New Jersey Citizens Against the Jerry Sandusky Victimization Act, A 3371 charged in their testimony today before the Assembly Women and Children’s committee that gay activists and their allies continue to fabricate stories and misrepresent the facts and scientific research related to the development and treatment of same-sex attraction.

The bill would ban licensed psychotherapists in New Jersey from providing widely accepted and proven sexual orientation change effort (SOCE) therapies to children and adolescents with unwanted same-sex attraction, including victims of abuse by sexual predators like Jerry Sandusky. The ban would apply even if these victims and their parents seek it. (more…)

Livio on the nj.com website: “TRENTON — Over the objections of a conservative family group’s threat to sue, the Assembly Women and Children’s Committee today approved a bill that would prohibit licensed therapists from providing gay-to-straight conversion therapy to children.”

“Testimony from dueling mental health professionals and activists dominated the 2-1/2 hour hearing at the Statehouse, with proponents arguing the treatment has been discredited as ineffective and harmful to kids, and opponents insisting the bill tramples parental rights.” (more…)

Excerpt from the article “Will Lisa Ling Misrepresent Sexual Orientation Change Effort Therapy Again?” on the Voice of the Voiceless website: … “Let me be clear when I say this. I like Lisa Ling. I like Our America. I also like Alan Chambers personally, although I do not agree with the direction he is taking Exodus International. But what is most troubling to me is that Ling refuses to interview actual psychotherapists who practice SOCE [sexual orientation change efforts] and/or clients who have gone through SOCE, either via individual therapy or through group therapy programs such as Journey Into Manhood. These programs differ dramatically than the Exodus programs, but the average person would not know that unless a reporter makes this distinction.” (more…)

Excerpts from the article “Former APA president: ‘I know of hundreds homosexuals who changed their sexual orientation” on LifeSiteNews.com: “NEW JERSEY – A renowned psychologist who was a former president of the American Psychological Association (APA) has submitted an affidavit saying that he personally treated over 2,000 homosexuals for various conditions, while his staff counseled thousands more, and he knows of ‘hundreds’ who successfully changed their orientation.”

“Nicholas Cummings filed the affidavit in support of a motion by JONAH (Jews Offering New Alternatives for Healing) before the New Jersey Superior Court to dismiss a lawsuit filed by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) accusing the group of ‘fraud’ for offering reparative therapy services. JONAH [Jews Offering New Alternatives for Healing] website gives an update on the SPLC lawsuit against them: “On Tuesday, May 28, 2013, FCDF [Freedom of Conscience Defense Fund ] filed a motion to dismiss the Southern Poverty Law Center’s (SPLC) “precedent setting” lawsuit targeting what it calls the fraudulent practice of “conversion therapy”. SPLC is the anti-religious bully that has targeted this small Jewish nonprofit organization that, but for the FCDF, lacked the financial resources to defend itself in court. The SPLC filed their “first of its kind” lawsuit in the nation against JONAH. The SPLC has launched a nationwide campaign to deprive people struggling with same-sex attraction, the opportunity to exercise their right to self determination by seeking help from organizations like JONAH. Excerpt from an article entitled “I was traumatized by the Southern Poverty Law Center’s hate campaign against ex-gays” written by Chuck Peters on the Voice of the Voiceless website: “Over the past twenty years I have been in therapy to overcome unwanted same-gender attractions. During this time, ineffective counseling yielded small, but insufficient results. However, after receiving therapy from the International Healing Foundation (IHF) in the past couple of years, I finally began to make real progress.” …

“But recently I stumbled upon an article published on Advocate.com, a gay-activist news media outlet, written by one of the Southern Poverty Law Center’s attorneys, Mr. Sam Wolfe. This article detailed, almost exactly, the IHF healing seminar I experienced about two years ago. On the first day of the seminar, I sat next to Mr. Wolfe. I revealed very personal, private, and painful information to him when we shared in pairs. (more…)

Excerpt from the Liberty Counsel Press Release of May 30, 2013: “Trenton, NJ – As the New Jersey Senate prepares to vote today on S2278, a bill to prohibit sexual orientation change efforts (SOCE), Liberty Counsel vows to vindicate the rights of counselors, minors, and parents should S2278 be enacted and signed by the Governor. Yesterday Liberty Counsel sent letters to New Jersey state senators, asking them to reject this unconstitutional law that tramples the fundamental rights of counselors, minors, and parents.” …

“S2278 prohibits only one viewpoint regarding change counseling and therefore constitutes viewpoint discrimination. No viewpoint-based restriction on private speech has ever been upheld. (more…)

The following article “What Does Scouting Have To Do With Homosexuality” by Chuck Peters is reprinted in its entirety from the Voice of the Voiceless website: New Boy Scout Policy May Lead To Increased Pedophilia. Today the Boy Scouts of America voted to allow openly gay-identified boy scouts to participate the same as heterosexual boy scouts. According to Fox News, of the roughly 1,400 voting members of the BSA’s National Council who cast ballots, 61 percent supported the proposal drafted by the governing Executive Committee. The policy change takes effect January 1, 2014. While this may be a great victory for some gay-identified boy scouts, and an even greater victory for gay activists who support lifting the ban on openly gay adults serving as scout masters, it’s a sad and painful day for me.

As both an ex-gay and Eagle Scout, it brings me back to when I was 11 years-old. Yes, I was molested by my Boy Scout master at this vulnerable age and it has been one of the most painful, damaging, life-confusing, and sexual-disorienting incidents in my life. (more…)
