Excerpt from the article “Psychiatry’s New Normal: ‘Transgendered’ Persons” in the National Catholic Register: “BOSTON — The term “gender identity disorder” has been eliminated from the new edition of the American Psychiatric Association’s official guide to classifying mental illnesses, known as the DSM-5.”

“Whereas previously a man who ‘self-identified’ as a woman (or vice versa) could have been classified as mentally ill, now the DSM-5 uses the term ‘gender dysphoria,’ which means it is only a mental illness if you’re troubled by this self-identification. Elated activists in the ‘LGBT’ community had lobbied the APA for the change for years.”

Christopher Doyle, licensed therapist and ex-gay, researched the story of a witness who testified at New Jersey hearings to ban sexual orientation change efforts. Brielle Goldani claimed she had been tortured at a conversion therapy camp in Ohio in 1997, but Doyle found no record of the camps existence.

Excerpt from the World Net Daily article “NJ Governor Christie’s Opinion on Heterosexual Therapy Ban Based on False Testimony:” “According to the office of the Ohio secretary of state and attorney general, no such camp called True Directions has ever existed. In fact, the only trace of this camp is from a 1999 film titled ‘But I’m a Cheerleader,’ starring RuPaul. In the film, the main character is suspected of being a lesbian by her family, who then proceeds to send her to a ‘conversion therapy’ camp called True Directions. Throughout the course of the film, two disgruntled gay men encourage the campers to rebel against the program and discover their true identities as gays and lesbians. (more…)

Excerpts from Joseph Farah’s opinion piece “Illegal to help change sexual orientation?” on World Net Daily: “It’s perfectly legal for counselors to encourage lesbianism, homosexuality, transvestism and the aforementioned medical mutilations known as sex-change operations. It is even perfectly legal for counselors and therapists to offer assistance in changing the sexual orientation of adults and children from heterosexual to homosexual.”

“At the same time American society takes this anything-goes approach to sexuality, there is one new glaring taboo being constructed in some states: Counseling and therapy for minors who want to change their sexual orientation from homosexual to heterosexual.” (more…)

Excerpts from Christopher Doyle’s opinion piece “The Ex-Gay Problem: You Can Never Leave?” on the Christian Post website: “‘You Can Check-Out Anytime You Like, But You Can Never Leave.’ So says the Eagles’ song Hotel California. Ironically, this memorable phrase in that 1976 classic hit has lasting implications for all those wishing to leave the gay life. I am careful to say ‘life’ and not ‘lifestyle’ so not to offend any gay and lesbian reading this who may be quick to cast me as a homophobe or hate-monger.”

“The truth is no one simply chooses to have same-sex attractions (SSA). These feelings are the result of many factors, mostly environmental and familial, mixed-in with one genetic factor, a sensitive temperament. Excerpts from the article “Network blasted for demonizing ex-‘gays'” on World Net Daily: … “‘They are so afraid of people discovering their sexuality and realizing that no one is born a homosexual and learning that they can actually change if they want to,’ said Greg Quinlan about the issue raised by a recent episode of CBS’ ‘Criminal Minds.’ … ‘It is for this reason that they preach against us with such hate and venom, attacking us for exercising our right of self-determination,’ he said.”

Excerpts from Dr. Grossmans second article about helping individuals with unwanted same-sex attraction on her blog www.miriamgrossmanmd.com: … “I wondered, though, about people who go against the tide and choose to fight their same sex attraction. They must have some interesting stories to tell. I discovered a support group for men in reparative therapy that met monthly in a Los Angeles home. The ‘Circle of Men’ welcomed me as a guest one evening. There were about twenty guys, young and not so young, seated comfortably in the living room. I had one question: what is their message to the mental health profession? They were eager to be heard.”

NARTH bulletin: “The United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit will hear the oral argument to reverse the district court’s order, find that SB 1172 is unconstitutional, and continue to enjoin the law on April 17, 2013 in San Francisco, California. Earlier this week Liberty Counsel acting on behalf of NARTH and the other Plaintiffs in this case filed the last of the briefs on this appeal.”

Excerpts from the article “Massachusetts state education officials release directive to force transgenderism into all schools” on Mass Resistance website: “The “transgender agenda” onslaught is now hitting Massachusetts schoolchildren with full force. What you are about to read is nothing short of madness. But it is happening. (To the rest of America: Take note. What happens in Massachusetts will likely be in your state before long — unless you are vigilant!)”

… “Among other things, according to the document, schools must allow ‘transgender’ children to play on sports teams and use the locker rooms, changing rooms, and restrooms of the opposite sex. Dr. Julie Hamilton of NARTH, Dr. Rick Fitzgibbons, and many others are featured. The video also delves into the Catholic Church’s teaching on homosexuality and sexual immorality. The video is very long, but full of information.
