PFOX Urges Students to Distribute Ex-Gay Flyers
April 3, 2013
The following is the PFOX News Release in its entirety: Washington D.C. – Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays & Gays (PFOX) is urging students, parents, and educators to distribute ex-gay flyers on April 19 to their schools with Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) or other gay-themed student clubs.
Friday, April 19, is the annual “day of silence” sponsored by the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN) when student and teacher members of homosexual clubs in public high schools and colleges across the country remain silent for the school day to bring attention to homosexuals.
“Homosexual activists and their supporters will use this day to promote anti-heterosexual and ex-gay misinformation by using false medical and mental health information that endangers our youth, while students who support homosexual behavior volunteer to remain silent,” said Regina Griggs, executive director of PFOX. “GLSEN includes “straight” in its title to refer only to those heterosexuals who affirm homosexual behavior.”
“Since members of gay affirming clubs agree to remain silent for the day, April 19 is the ideal time to distribute ex-gay information without interference or harassment as PFOX supporters seek equality, respect and affirmation of former homosexuals,” said Griggs. “PFOX is calling on students, parents, and educators across our nation’s schools to distribute flyers promoting acceptance of the ex-gay community and the full facts about sexual orientation.”
“PFOX has distributed informative flyers in some of the largest school districts in the country,” said Griggs. “PFOX’s one-page flyer gives students more complete information on sexual orientation and urges tolerance for all. Equality exists when both gay and ex-gay organizations have equal access to students. Homosexual groups should not be the only ones to have access to students on the issue of sexual orientation.”

“We encourage everyone to print these flyers and distribute them at their schools on April 19 and whenever a gay event is featured in order to promote equality, diversity and safety,” Griggs said. “Our children deserve no less.”
Since many students are now encouraged to identify as ‘gay’ at an early age, the flyer explains that children do not have to prematurely label their entire future lives as ‘gay.” All mainstream organizations admit that sexuality can be fluid and change over time — sexual preference is not fixed. The flyer also discourages bullying and name calling.”
Additional PFOX brochures and handouts about sexual orientation, gender identity disorder, bullying, tolerance, Spanish language flyers and more can be found athttp://pfox.org/bookstore.html for downloading, printing and distribution to churches, schools, and workplaces.
