JONAH Moves to Dismiss SPLC’s Frivolous Lawsuit
June 4, 2013
JONAH [Jews Offering New Alternatives for Healing] website gives an update on the SPLC lawsuit against them: “On Tuesday, May 28, 2013, FCDF [Freedom of Conscience Defense Fund ] filed a motion to dismiss the Southern Poverty Law Center’s (SPLC) “precedent setting” lawsuit targeting what it calls the fraudulent practice of “conversion therapy”. SPLC is the anti-religious bully that has targeted this small Jewish nonprofit organization that, but for the FCDF, lacked the financial resources to defend itself in court. The SPLC filed their “first of its kind” lawsuit in the nation against JONAH. The SPLC has launched a nationwide campaign to deprive people struggling with same-sex attraction, the opportunity to exercise their right to self determination by seeking help from organizations like JONAH. The SPLC has eight attorneys on the case who have served JONAH with hundreds of discovery requests and subpoenaed thousands of documents from many people and organizations in multiple states.”
“ In support of its landmark motion to dismiss, JONAH has filed a certification (sworn statement) from Dr. Nicholas Cummings, a preeminent psychologist and Past President of the American Psychological Association. Dr. Cummings has helped hundreds of men leave the homosexual lifestyle and live according to their personal values. JONAH has also filed a certification from Dr. Michelle Cretella, which documents the many studies that clearly demonstrate that people can, and do, change their sexual orientation from homosexual to heterosexual. This compelling evidence gives credence to the fact that SPLC’s claim that homosexuality is fixed and immutable is itself a fraud on the court and society.”
